Interviews coming to Sniper Zone

Since July, there have been many player and professional interviews that have taken place inside the SNIPER’s Den Studio (which is a work in progress). Show below is a picture of Steve Erickson (Local Sports Commentator Delta Cable and Sportswave.ca), Mason Malkowich (Junior A player about to be interviewed) and Carl Haering (camera and sound technician).

Latest Videos:

The latest video is compliments of Doc Ronald Gordon, Professor of Neur0-Science. One of the most neglected areas of athletic development is the cognitive side which deals with how the brain processes information both conceptually as well as functionally. With concussions being a predominant feature in most hockey news articles today, especially with  high profile players such as Sidney Crosby being side lined perhaps indefinitely, Doc Gordon provides valuable insights into brain performance and injury. This is a four part series with the first two sections shown below. Enjoy and pass on!

The following video is part three in the four part series with Doctor Ronald Gordon. In this video Doc Gordon discusses in depth what a concussion really is and how the brain is traumatized both short and long term.

Part One: Introduction to Neuro-Science

Part Two: Continuation of Discussion from Part One

The following interview is with Doug Thom, VP Product Development and Director of Firstar Sports, Doug provides great insight into high performance clothing for athletic wear as well as demonstrates Firstar’s T3 Cool Skin line with it’s patented seam technology. An incredible innovation and a must see? Many thanks to Doug for taking time out of his very busy schedule to explain and demonstrate this new technology.

The following interview  is with David Rutherford, former Vancouver Giants forward, traded to Spokane winning a Memorial Cup Championship. Now signed with the AHL Portland Pirates he shares his experiences in Junior hockey, his trial and tribulations. This is a great interview for all aspiring junior hockey players and I can’t thank David enough for coming into the studio and sharing his journey.

Second part of Doc Sid Sheard’s very informative interview at the EHS Studio. Again, many thanks!

Also at the studio was a  young lad named Garrett, truly one of my personal heroes who suffers from a difficult illness which he is fighting through daily because of his love of the game. He is an inspiration to his team mates and others that know him. It is a heart felt interview.

A candid interview with Doctor Sid Sheard, Canucks chiropractor. His thoughts on injuries, prevention, treatment and fitness for hockey as well as his long history with the Canucks organization and their Stanley Cup runs. This is Part 1 of a two part interview.

Interview with John Zhang, his comments about the growth of hockey in China and the immigration of Chinese students coming to Canada to learn our game. A very informative interview.

  • Mason Malkowich – His thoughts on leaving BC, playing south of the border then coming back to junior hockey in Canada but choosing the Alberta Junior A league instead of the BCHL.

    • Kaleigh Fratkin –  Boston University player providing her thoughts on the female game, her games played in the PIJHL as the first female to play junior hockey in B.C. and her evolution as a young player playing for the Burnaby Winter Club. My apologies for the delay. There were some production difficulties which have been overcome and her hew interview is below.

  • Cameron Lawson – Top rookie player in the PIJHL 2010-11 season for the Port Moody Panthers until he got the call up to play for the Coquitlam Express of the BCHL. His experiences growing up and his thoughts on the game.
  • Victor Newell – Former Nanaimo Clipper defenseman moving to the USHL, his thoughts on the game, his change from forward to defense, his commitment to Harvard University and his experiences as a player coming up the ranks of minor hockey.
  • Connor Rankin – WHL player for the Tri- City Americans. His experiences growing up, his passion for the game, his selection to the U-18 camp tryouts and his insights into development and hard work.

  • Shane Taker – Notre Dame University freshman last year, his youth hockey experiences, thoughts on the game as well as his memories playing junior hockey in the Cowichan Valley Capitals of the BCHL.

  • Kyle Bruce – Professional hockey player currently playing in the British Elite League for the Brae Clan of the EIHL (Elite Ice Hockey League or English Elite League) in Scotland.  Team. His minor hockey experiences, playing for the Vancouver Giants and WHL . as well as his draft experience by the Florida Panthers and his thoughts on hockey as a career.

Tadayoshi Shibata -Japanese player passionate about Canadian hockey, his story about coming to Canada at 12 yrs, falling in love with the Canadian game, playing Midget A in Calgary for the Buffalos, moving to Vancouver to play junior only to get held back by BC Hockey, being accepted into the US where he is now playing Junior A. A great perspective on another culture and the love of our game.

More interviews on the way with leading sports experts ranging from WHL coaches to sport Nutritionists. If you have any interview requests please submit them to ron@elitehockeyshooters.com
